Modern Farmhouse
This home, situated on a few acres of sprawling Santa Ynez countryside, had good bones and great views, but the rest needed some updating. New doors and windows replaced their dated predecessors, walls were painted white to lighten and brighten, French Oak hardwood floors replaced reddish-toned tile, and wood beams were installed to add character and raise the eyes upward.
Walls were re-positioned to improve the general flow, but one wall, separating the living room and kitchen, provided structural support and, thus, couldn't be fully removed. Instead, it was reduced to a header and a supporting post cleverly clad in reclaimed barn wood. This not only created a cool rustic bar separating the living room and kitchen, but provided a secondary area for seating and entertaining.
The clients requested a modern farmhouse style and, thus, we transformed each room with the team from Brancati Construction. The result is a house that is flooded with natural light, quality finishes and beauty, but also a place that feels down-home and welcoming: somewhere you can hang your hat, kick up your feet, and enjoy the views of the countryside.
